The line above is not mine, and the agency named is who prices it. That is the whole answer when the specification is holding. It is not the answer when the controls scope is still being decided, when the schedule will not survive a lead time, or when the budget came back and controls is the line everybody is staring at.

What you get for the money
elan is premium relative to Kichler's core line — the pieces use heavier materials and more distinctive finishes, and many are integrated LED rather than lamped. Kichler's published warranty covers indoor residential fixtures for two years on fixture and finish and five years on the LED engine, dropping to three years on the LED engine for commercial use. Because elan is a Kichler line rather than a separate manufacturer, confirm the applicable warranty document against the specific catalog number when it matters on a spec.
Where it gets used
elan is used where the fixture is the focal point: over a dining table or kitchen island, in a two-story entry, and in primary bathrooms where the lighted mirrors and vanity bars go in. Hospitality buyers use it in lobbies and restaurant interiors. It is an interior line — there is no meaningful outdoor or landscape offering.
Specifying notes
Many elan pieces are integrated LED, so the light source is not user-replaceable and dimmer compatibility has to be checked against Kichler's published driver information rather than assumed. Multi-ring and multi-tier pendants such as Hyvo and Neruda need their overall drop and canopy configuration confirmed against ceiling height before ordering. For Florida coastal work, note that Kichler's warranty treats the environment within ten miles of a body of water as highly corrosive and excludes finish failure and corrosion caused by coastal conditions — elan is an indoor line, so this matters mainly for open-air or screened installations.
