Fine Art is one of the rarest things in this index: a manufacturer I can drive to. The company works from 3840 W. 104 Street in Hialeah, inside Miami-Dade County, and it has been in the Miami area since 1976. Almost every other name I quote is made a thousand miles away or more.
The heritage is glass. The company traces its origins to a New York glassmaking factory founded by Max Blumberg in the late nineteenth century; his son Jack Blumberg founded Fine Art Lamps in 1940, gathering, in the company’s words, "the finest designers, sculptors, and decorative artists". Jack’s son Max carried it on from 1965. In early 2018 the business was bought by its long-serving executive team, Laura Goldblum and Rene Quintana, and renamed Fine Art Handcrafted Lighting to describe what it actually does.
What it does is make the whole fixture. Fine Art describes itself as "a true vertical manufacturer in America", combining bespoke design, metalworking, studio glass and finishing under one roof — "beautifully handcrafted metal, hand-blown glass, and other unique materials utilizing exquisite hand-applied finishes". The glass operation is the part worth understanding: the company calls it "a state-of-the-art studio glass facility where master craftsmen create inspired glass for fixtures and site-specific sculptural installations", and in its Dallas Market Center profile describes glass being "blown and cut in one of the largest glass studios in the world".
On why that matters to a specification: because the metalwork, the glass and the finish all happen in the same building, a Fine Art fixture can be modified. The company states plainly that "as a true vertical manufacturer in America, we can customize our designs to meet your unique requirements." A custom diameter, a different glass color, a finish matched to a hardware sample — these are conversations rather than refusals. And when something needs to be looked at rather than described, the factory is a short drive from Hallandale Beach rather than a freight claim.

Fine Art’s Hialeah showroom and glass studio are open to the trade by appointment. On a live project I can arrange a visit and walk you through it — the showroom, the manufacturing floor and the glass studio where the blowing happens.
It changes the conversation. A client who has watched a shade being blown and a finish being applied by hand understands what separates this from a catalog fixture, and stops comparing it to one. The clearest thing the glass studio has done is at the University of Miami’s Lennar Foundation Medical Center: an installation of 244 iridescent milk glass ibises, the university’s own symbol, in a project Florida Design reported as taking three years. What you get for the money
This is a luxury, made-to-order line, and the price reflects that fixtures are built individually in Florida rather than pulled from a container. The warranty is unusually strong for the category: a lifetime limited warranty to the original purchaser on indoor fixtures against defects in material and workmanship, three years on integrated LED drivers and five years on LED lamps. Outdoor fixtures carry a separate two-year manufacturer's warranty on workmanship and finish.
Where it gets used
Fine Art is specified for entries, stair halls, dining rooms and primary suites in high-end coastal and estate homes, and for hotel lobbies, restaurants and clubhouses where a custom-scale statement fixture is called for. Because it is made locally, it is a practical choice for South Florida projects that need a specific size, finish or drop length rather than a stock configuration. The outdoor collections cover porticos, loggias and entries.

The company is explicit about salt air: within ten miles of the seacoast it treats some corrosion and deterioration as normal wear for the environment, and it recommends monthly cleaning to keep a finish in condition — that is realistic guidance for anywhere in Broward or Miami-Dade, not fine print to skim past. Indoor fixtures are handcrafted to order and are non-returnable for that reason, so confirm size, finish and drop before you commit; imported outdoor fixtures allow a 30-day return with a 25% restocking charge in as-new condition with original packaging. The warranty also excludes damage from improper installation, power surges and inclement weather, so hurricane-season exposure is on the owner, not the maker.
