About Kenall Lighting
Kenall was founded in 1963 and manufactures in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It is a Legrand brand and states that it created the first impact- and vandal-resistant lighting products — which is still the center of the line. Kenall builds for the places where a normal luminaire does not survive: correctional facilities, transit platforms, tunnels, parking structures, cleanrooms, food processing plants and behavioural health rooms.
The Wisconsin plant is vertically integrated, covering its own metal fabrication, and the company owns its intellectual property and tooling, which is why so much of the catalog is sealed, gasketed, tamper-resistant or ligature-resistant rather than adapted from a standard housing. Kenall is ISO 9001 certified and publishes Buy American Act and domestic preference compliant products.
Two technologies get asked about specifically. Indigo-Clean uses 405nm visible light for continuous environmental disinfection in occupied healthcare spaces. BIOS SkyBlue is a tunable approach aimed at circadian effect. Both sit inside otherwise conventional healthcare luminaires, so they are specified as a fixture rather than as an added system.
