About Lumec
Lumec was established in 1972 to modernise classic lantern-style luminaires, and opened its manufacturing facility in Boisbriand, Quebec in 1993, where it still produces. It joined the Genlyte Group in 2006 and is now a specification brand within Genlyte Solutions, Signify’s North American brand collection.
The line is outdoor and municipal: roadway and street luminaires, decorative outdoor, poles and brackets, and bollards. Renaissance and Domus cover the decorative pendant end, RoadStar, RoadFocus, RoadScape and HighFocus the functional roadway range, with Ancestra, TunnelView and SoleCity filling in heritage, tunnel and urban applications. The plant runs its own R&D, optics design and metal foundry.
Two things matter for public work in South Florida. Lumec products are Zhaga-D4i certified and integrate with the Interact City platform, so a municipality can adopt connected street lighting without committing to a single fixture forever. And the Engineered to Order program covers customisation — which is how a city gets a pole and luminaire that match a historic district rather than a catalog lantern that nearly does. Certifications cited include AASHTO, CSA, UL, ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
