About Murray Feiss
Murray Feiss Import Corp. was founded in 1955 in the Bronx, growing out of Rose Feiss's wartime custom lampshade business, and became one of the larger American residential decorative lighting names. The brand no longer exists on current product: Feiss was folded into Generation Lighting under what is now the Visual Comfort Group, and the residential lines that were sold as Feiss now ship as Generation Lighting. What you get for the money
Feiss was a mid-tier residential line — glass, cast and stamped metal, a broad finish range and a very wide catalog covering chandeliers, pendants, sconces, vanities, outdoor, portable lamps and fans. Since the name has been retired, current pricing and warranty apply to the Generation Lighting product that replaced it, not to Feiss. Anything still marketed as Murray Feiss in the retail channel is old stock or closeout, which is worth knowing before ordering a matching second fixture six months later.
Where it gets used
The catalog was residential-first: dining rooms, foyers, bedrooms, bathrooms, and exterior entries and post lights. The outdoor collections such as Dakota, Millbrooke, Market Square and Lighthouse were the strongest part of the line for builder and renovation work. Feiss also produced the Bob Mackie Home lighting collection and Colonial Williamsburg's Pure Simple Today collection.
