About WE-EF
WE-EF was founded in 1950 in Bispingen, Germany by master electrician Wolfgang Fritzsche, whose initials give the company its name. It is part of the Fagerhult Group — the Fritzsche family and other shareholders agreed to join Fagerhult at the end of 2015 and signed in 2017 — and it runs two German factories, at Bispingen and Neuendorf, with around five hundred employees worldwide. The US subsidiary, WE-EF Lighting USA, is in Warrendale, Pennsylvania.
This is professional outdoor lighting and very little else: inground luminaires, recessed and surface wall, ceiling, bollards and pathway, light columns, street and area, floodlights, catenary, and the RAIL66 system. The company established its own aluminum sand-casting foundry in 1960, which is unusual and shows in the housings.
Optics are the reason specifiers ask for it. OLC, the One LED Concept, and IOS are its proprietary optical technologies, and WE-EF pioneered the butterfly lens for LED street lighting between 2006 and 2008. It publishes DarkSky-certified products and Darklight and Wild Light designs aimed at zero light spill — directly relevant on South Florida coastal projects, where sea turtle lighting ordinances govern what may be visible from the beach and a fixture that spills is not merely inefficient but non-compliant.

WE-EF publishes its 5CE corrosion protection system in full: marine-grade low-copper aluminum substrate, trivalent chromium or zirconium conversion coating, UV-stabilized polyester powder to GSB and QUALICOAT, and polymer-coated stainless hardware to stop galvanic corrosion, referencing up to 3,000 hours of salt spray testing. The Wild-Light range adds an 1850K True Amber channel. For a beachfront site with a turtle ordinance and a corrosion problem, this is the most complete published answer on the card.
