About Bodine
Bodine was founded in 1962 and is based in Collierville, Tennessee. It is a Signify brand, sold in North America within Genlyte Solutions. The company tells the story that its earliest operations ran out of a chicken coop before it moved into a proper plant — a long way from where it sits now, which is inside a large share of the emergency lighting in American commercial buildings.
Bodine does not make architectural fixtures. It makes the components that keep light on when power fails: emergency LED drivers, emergency lighting inverters, fluorescent emergency ballasts, emergency lighting control devices, emergency kits, exit and combination exit units, and unit equipment. On most projects it is specified inside somebody else’s luminaire, which is why the Bodine part number turns up in the fixture schedule rather than in the fixture cut sheet.
