About Ushio
Ushio America was established in 1967 and is based in Cypress, California. Its parent, Ushio Inc. of Japan, is one of the world’s largest light source manufacturers. The company describes itself as a vertically integrated solutions company for light, working across the electromagnetic spectrum from extreme ultraviolet through to infrared.
This is a light source company rather than a fixture company, and the range is wider than most people expect: lamps, lasers, LEDs and systems. Xenon, UV, excimer, metal halide, halogen and LED technologies all sit in the catalogue, at scales from EUV semiconductor sources down to replacement lamps. Named lines include Ushio Lighting Solutions, NECSEL lasers, PD-LD active fibre optics, Kooptech Cinema, Care222, HiLUX GRO, Uphoria, MIDORI and Indiglow.
Two things bring Ushio onto a South Florida project. Cinema and entertainment venues still need xenon and specialty lamps that almost nobody else makes, and Care222 far UV-C technology, developed with Ushio Japan, is specified for infection prevention in occupied spaces. Horticulture and landscape lighting round out the range.
