The two 3-part specifications are the ones a spec writer actually needs: Division 09 for the unlit felt (sound-absorbing ceiling units) and Division 26 for the lit product. The design guide and lookbook are large, so they link straight to Focal Point. Every individual cut sheet, IES file and acoustic test report is on the product page linked from each card below.
What is acoustic lighting?
A luminaire built into or wrapped in a sound-absorbing material, so the fixture that lights the room also absorbs the reflected sound that makes it echo. Focal Point does it with PET felt baffles, tiles and pendants around its own Seem, Skydome and ID+ optics, tested and published in Sabins per unit.
How much of the ceiling do I need to cover?
It depends on the room volume, the finishes and the target reverberation time. As a first pass, a Seem 1 Acoustic array at 12" on center adds about 1.26 Sabins per square foot of array; at 24" on center, about 0.72. The estimator on this page runs the arithmetic; Focal Point’s acoustic team runs the real calculation from your drawings.
What is the difference between NRC and Sabins?
NRC is a single-number average absorption coefficient for a flat surface, useful for comparing tiles. Sabins is absorption per unit and is what goes into the reverberation formula. Baffles and pendants absorb on every face, so Focal Point publishes their performance in Sabins per unit rather than NRC.
Is the felt fire rated?
Yes. ASTM E-84 Class A and CAN/ULC S102, flame spread 0, smoke developed 300. Test reports are available from Focal Point.
Can I get it fast?
Seem 1 Acoustic in all four versions, AirCore Blade and all three TruTile lines are on Focal Point’s 10-day Quickship program. The rest of the family is made to order in Chicago.
Can the baffles be cut in the field?
No. Baffles, blades and Trio arms are ordered at finished length. TruTile wall tiles are field-cuttable.
Does it count toward LEED or WELL?
The PET felt is Declare labelled and LBC Red List Free, which supports LEED v4.1 and WELL material credits, and the absorption itself supports the acoustic-comfort credits in both programs.

Why the ceiling is where the echo lives
Every South Florida office built in the last ten years has the same section: polished concrete or LVT, a glass front wall, exposed deck, and a lot of people on calls. Hard surfaces reflect; the room rings. Sound can be absorbed, blocked or covered up, and only the first one fixes reverberation. Blocking is walls and doors, which an open plan has already decided against. Covering up is sound masking, which raises the noise floor to hide the problem. Absorption takes the reflected energy out of the room, and the largest unobstructed surface in the room to hang absorption from is the ceiling — which is also where the lighting already is. That is the whole idea of the line: the baffle you were going to specify for the sound and the linear luminaire you were going to specify for the light are the same object.
Reverberation time (RT60)
The seconds it takes a sound to fall 60 dB after the source stops. A conference room at 1.1 seconds is the “fishbowl” nobody wants to use; the same room at 0.8 works. RT60 = 0.049 × volume ÷ total Sabins, in feet.
NRC
The average absorption coefficient at 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz, 0 to 1, for a flat surface. Fine for comparing two ceiling tiles. It undercounts a baffle, which absorbs on both faces and the edges — a 3D object can test above 1.
Sabins
Absorption per unit — one square foot of perfect absorber is one Sabin. This is the number that goes into the RT60 formula and the one Focal Point publishes per baffle, tile and pendant from Riverbank laboratory tests, so a layout can be added up.

Thirteen times the absorption for the same footprint, and the baffles are also the light fixture.WELL v2 and LEED v4.1 both carry reverberation and acoustic-comfort credits, and ANSI S12.60 sets 0.6–0.7 seconds for classrooms. Nothing in the Florida Building Code makes you treat a room acoustically. What makes you do it is the tenant calling six weeks after move-in.

Method: RT60 = 0.049 × V ÷ A (Sabine, feet). Existing absorption uses typical published NRC values for the finishes listed; furniture and people are added as a flat allowance. Array figures are Focal Point’s design-guide values at 1000 Hz for a 14' ceiling. The Nivo figure is derived from the guide’s 3,840 sq ft conference example (638 Sabins). Small rooms under about 1,500 cu ft do not reverberate in a way this formula describes well; treat those by surface area instead, which is exactly what Focal Point did on the CSHQA job below.

The core of the line. A Seem 1 Acoustic is a Seem 1 linear luminaire — 1.5" aperture, regress or batwing lens, 3000/3500/4000K, 0-10V, DALI or EcoSystem — carried inside an 8", 12" or 16" tall PET felt baffle, lit or unlit, in any length from 2' to 208' in 1" increments, with fully illuminated 90° corners so a run can turn into an L, a U or a rectangle without a break in the light. The unlit baffles between the lit ones are the same felt in the same height and color, so the ceiling reads as one system. AirCore Blade and TruBlade are the economy fill: thinner unlit blades in the same heights that carry the acoustic load between fewer luminaires.

Baffles are not field-cuttable. Every length is ordered as the finished length, so the run has to be dimensioned before release — L legs 5' minimum, U and rectangle legs 6' minimum. I check the shop drawing against the RCP before the order goes in.

AirCore Bridge and Mora: the baffles become a ceiling
Two ways to get a designed ceiling out of standard parts. AirCore Bridge rests AirCore Blades on Seem 1 luminaires so the blades need one suspension point or none; Mora hangs TruBlades from a Seem 1 Acoustic in arches, waves and mountain profiles, either as square modules you tile across a ceiling or as one array cut to the room. Both are specified from a cut sheet, not designed from scratch, which is what makes them affordable.

Three standard configurations. Truss: two Seem 1 luminaires carry the blades, no baffle suspension at all. Cantilever: one luminaire and one cable per blade. Cantilever Wave: varied blade lengths for a ragged edge.

Nivo Acoustic, Ori and TruTile: the grid and the wall
For the job that already has a 15/16" or 9/16" grid, or wants one. Nivo Acoustic is the felt companion to the Nivo architectural troffer: a 2' × 2' tile that drops from flush to 7" below the grid in 1" steps, so a cluster of tiles and troffers at different drops reads as a sculpted cloud. Ori is the same idea with ten folded geometries. Both are cut and folded, not thermoformed, so the edges stay crisp, and both carry a plenum option for Chicago-plenum (CCEA) ceilings. TruTile takes the same felt to the wall in 2' × 2' modules that are field-cuttable.

One PET felt, 33 colorways, every product
Everything on this page is cut from the same 9 mm polyester felt: 100% PET containing up to 50% post-consumer recycled bottles, fully recyclable, formaldehyde free, moisture and bacteria resistant, ASTM E-84 Class A (flame spread 0, smoke developed 300) and CAN/ULC S102. Colorfastness AATCC 16A Option 3 Class 4 at 40 hours. It vacuums; spills blot with a damp cloth; for infection control it takes a CDC-ratio bleach mist. The point of one material is that a Seem 1 baffle, an Ori tile, a TruTile wall and a Polina sconce in the same room match exactly.

Lengths are final
Baffles, blades and Trio arms are not field-cuttable. Order the finished length. I check every run against the RCP and the grid before release; the contractor brochure says the same thing from the other side of the ceiling.
Mounting
Cable to 120" (144" on Plyta, Blume and Zyl), direct-to-grid, direct-to-strut, StrutKlip and magnet on TruBlade, surface on Skydome Edge, stem on Polina, hardware-by-others when the ceiling contractor wants it that way.
Two spec sections
Unlit felt goes in Division 09 as 09 84 36 Sound-Absorbing Ceiling Units; lit product goes in Division 26 as 26 51 19 LED Interior Lighting. Both are hosted above as editable Word files.
Field service
Lit acoustic products are field serviceable. Installation instructions ship in the box and live on each product page and Focal Point’s YouTube channel; the Contractor Zone on their site has the rest.
Custom
Custom heights, lengths, tile sizes and Mora Inspire profiles go through Focal Point’s acoustic team. I open the conversation and stay in it.
Purchasing
Ceiling contractors can buy the unlit product on their own package. Focal Point offers purchasing options for ceiling and electrical channels; I coordinate which side of the job carries what.

Three rooms with numbers
The fishbowl
12' × 10' × 12', concrete and carpet, three gypsum walls, one glass, exposed deck. RT60 measured 1.12 s; unusable for calls. Room too small for a useful RT analysis, so the acoustician sized the baffle area from the Seem 1 Acoustic C423 report.
Four 8' × 16" Seem 1 Acoustic baffles at 24" o.c. on the joist spacing: 25 Sabins added, RT60 0.8 s, and two lit baffles delivering 30–40 fc on the table.
One system for light and sound
Two floors, low ceilings removed to reveal structure, a great deal of glass. Thirty runs of 12" Seem 1 Acoustic direct luminaires and baffles at 12" o.c. across the first-floor training room; a coffered effect over the conference table upstairs by hanging baffles at different heights.
Training room 0.85 s to 0.62 s; conference room 1.05 s to 0.76 s — about 30% off the reverberation time.

It depends on the room volume, the finishes and the target reverberation time. As a first pass, a Seem 1 Acoustic array at 12" on center adds about 1.26 Sabins per square foot of array; at 24" on center, about 0.72. What is the difference between NRC and Sabins?
NRC is a single-number average absorption coefficient for a flat surface, useful for comparing tiles. Sabins is absorption per unit and is what goes into the reverberation formula. Baffles and pendants absorb on every face, so Focal Point publishes their performance in Sabins per unit rather than NRC.
Is the felt fire rated?
Yes. ASTM E-84 Class A and CAN/ULC S102, flame spread 0, smoke developed 300. Test reports are available from Focal Point.
Can I get it fast?
Seem 1 Acoustic in all four versions, AirCore Blade and all three TruTile lines are on Focal Point’s 10-day Quickship program. The rest of the family is made to order in Chicago.
Can the baffles be cut in the field?
No. Baffles, blades and Trio arms are ordered at finished length. TruTile wall tiles are field-cuttable.
Does it count toward LEED or WELL?
The PET felt is Declare labelled and LBC Red List Free, which supports LEED v4.1 and WELL material credits, and the absorption itself supports the acoustic-comfort credits in both programs.
Is it Buy American?
Every acoustic product carries the Buy American Act designation, and the family lists BABA and DOT Buy America. It is manufactured in Chicago.
Can I match the felt to the light fixtures?
Yes. The Naturals collection puts the same Light Oak, Gray Elm, Chestnut and Walnut on felt and on luminaire housings, canopies and ID+ cylinders, so a baffle and a downlight in the same ceiling read as one finish.
