About Casablanca
Casablanca is Hunter Fan Company's upper-price designer fan line, acquired by Hunter in 1996 and now sold under the Hunter umbrella. The line is built around die-cast housings, DC motors on most current models and integrated LED light kits, with a heavy weighting toward outdoor damp-rated fans. Builders and interior designers specify it when a standard fan is not enough but a full architectural fan is not warranted.

What you get for the money
Casablanca is priced above the mainline Hunter range and the difference shows in motor type and housing. Most current models use DC motors with multiple speeds and remote or wall control, and Hunter publishes a limited lifetime warranty on the Casablanca motor, one year on other parts and finishes, one year on remote transmitters, receivers and capacitors, and five years on LED light modules. Labor and installation costs are excluded.
Where it gets used
Great rooms, primary bedrooms, and covered outdoor living space are where Casablanca earns its price - the outdoor range is unusually deep, with 52, 54, 56, 60, 65 and 72-inch spans. In South Florida the outdoor models are the practical draw for lanais, screened porches and covered summer kitchens. Hospitality use is mostly resort guest rooms, lobbies and covered pool decks.

The Casablanca outdoor fans on Hunter's site are listed as damp-rated for outdoor covered locations, not wet-rated - that means a roofed, protected position, not open exposure to driven rain. A damp rating is about electrical safety, not finish life: in a salt-air location plan on rinsing and maintaining the finish regardless of rating. Many models are ENERGY STAR listed and DC-motor, and DC fans generally require the supplied remote or wall control rather than a standard wall-mounted fan speed controller.
