Besa Lighting: Hand-Blown Glass Pendants, Sconces and Wet-Location Outdoor
Besa Lighting Co., Inc. is in Blacklick, Ohio. The glass is handcrafted in Europe and inspected at the Ohio factory, and the catalog runs pendants, multi-light canopies, ceiling and semi-flush, sconces and vanity, and a small wet-location outdoor group. It is the decorative end of my card — the fixture the designer picks and the engineer then has to make work.

What Besa publishes, and what it does not
Besa’s spec sheets carry dimensions, glass and finish codes, lamp and LED data, the dimming protocol and the UL location rating. They do not carry photometry, and there is no warranty statement anywhere on the public site. Both of those matter on a commercial job, so they are stated here rather than glossed.

Ceiling, semi-flush, sconces and vanity
Nearly everything in this group mounts to a 4 in. octagonal box, some pendants also to a 4 in. round box, and the sheets state the pendants and semi-flush units are suitable for sloped ceilings. The standard canopy is 5 in. plated stamped steel, with a swivel on the stem versions.

Outdoor, and the three families that are actually wet rated
Wet location on the published sheets is a short list. Getting this wrong is the most common Besa field problem on this coast, so it is spelled out.

Costaluz is published as developed for coastal outdoor areas, using European molded blown glass. Besa publishes no salt-spray hours, no wind or EPA data on the post-mount version, and no IP rating at all — the sheets use UL wet and damp language only. On an oceanfront rail or a dune-side walkway I would want that in writing from the factory before it goes on the submittal.
How a Besa catalog number is built
Besa does not use one order-number grammar across the catalog. Each family defines its own, and these are the published examples.

Glass color codes are per model, not a shared palette. The digits 07 read Opal Matte on both Sasha and Darci, but the full codes are 757007 and 272507. Do not carry a glass code from one fixture to another. Besa also publishes that dimensions are nominal and that handcrafted glass varies in color, pattern, thickness and dimension — worth settling in writing on any job with several units that have to match.
Dimming, and the three protocols that actually appear
This is the part that goes wrong on site. A Besa mini pendant on an ELV dimmer and a Besa flush mount on a CL dimmer are two different wall boxes.

Who represents Besa Lighting in South Florida?
I do, through SESCO Lighting, in Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Monroe.
Which Besa fixtures are rated for wet locations?
Aqua in all three shapes, Togo, and the Costaluz 3061 series in both the wall and post versions. The Jilly outdoor pendant is damp only, for exterior use under a covered ceiling. Everything else on the published sheets is damp interior or dry only.
Does Besa publish a warranty?
Not on its public website. There is no warranty page, statement or PDF, and none in the Monorail, Multilight, Outdoor Pendant, DaVinci or Custom Works brochures. If the specification needs a warranty in writing, ask me and I will get it from the factory rather than quote you something the sheet does not say.
Can I get IES files for a Besa fixture?
Not from Besa. The company publishes no IES files, no LM-79 reports and no candela data. If the space is being modeled, the decorative layer usually has to be treated as a visual element with the calculated light coming from something else, or the design moves to a line that publishes photometry.
What color temperatures does Besa publish?
3000K is standard across the LED offerings. 3500K and 4000K are published on Swan and stated as available on Kirk 12. Pahu is the one published outlier at 2800K. CRI is published as 90+ on most LED sources and 80+ on Jilly, Pahu and Togo.
Is Besa Buy American or BABA compliant?
Besa publishes no Made in USA, Buy American Act or Build America, Buy America statement, and no country-of-origin declaration per catalog number. What it does publish is that glass is produced in Europe on some lines and hand inspected at the Ohio factory. On a federally funded job, treat it as unresolved until the factory certifies in writing.
