BEGA was founded in 1945 by the goldsmith and steel engraver Heinrich Gantenbrink, and by the end of that first year five staff were producing twenty luminaires. The legal name is still BEGA Gantenbrink-Leuchten KG and the company is still in Menden, Germany. Its core philosophy is expressed in two German words — das gute Licht, good light.
The range now covers outdoor and indoor luminaires, light control, electrical supply, urban furniture, accessories, and e-mobility and connecting pillars. BEGA 48 V, the Calm, Spark and Studio lines, the Glashütte Limburg and Midcentury collections, PRIMA, Fanoos, The Collection Boom and BEGA Urban Elements are the named families. Glashütte Limburg and Boom merged under BEGA in 2017, and the company acquired AUBRILAM in 2020 and launched its urban furniture offer.
